The NewstrAid Benevolent Fund has been in existence for over 175 years. It was founded in 1839 by, amongst others, Charles Dickens, to provide welfare for the desperately poor newspaper street sellers of London. NewstrAid has since expanded to cover the whole of the UK and everyone involved in the retailing, wholesaling, distribution and circulation of newspapers and magazines, and their immediate dependents.
For many beneficiaries, 2020 has proved itself to have been a particularly challenging year owing to the global pandemic and thanks to the tremendous and loyal supporters of NewstrAid, the charity has been able to gift a small token of support by way of branded hand sanitiser and a face mask to its beneficiaries. Furthermore, NewstrAid was able to thank its own almoners with a gift pack too, supporting the team who work tirelessly throughout the year, visiting over 600 households supporting beneficiaries in their own homes which means so much to those in need of support.
The charity provides financial help, emotional support and practical advice for people who are, or have been, employed in the selling and distribution of newspapers and magazines in the UK. This includes their immediate family and dependants who are in need, hardship or distress.
NewstrAid contacted InterSend for our support in making this project happen and of course, we were only too pleased to swing into action.
Our data management team rapidly worked on the sortation of names and addresses. Using our in-house printing, we were able to rapidly personalise and print the letters to each recipient.
Immediately following the receipt of the gift items into our facility, our team of packing staff wasted no time in assembling the PPE packs with facemasks and hand sanitisers packed along with a branded letter.
The packs were then labelled and immediately despatched through the mail network.
“Thank you for the masks and hand gel. It is a lovely feeling knowing that someone cares so much about us”
NewstrAID beneficiary
Another job well done by the team and no doubt very much appreciated by the NewstrAid beneficiaries and almoners right across the UK.
We continue to work closely with NewstrAID, assisting with their fulfilment and logistics needs.
InterSend is also a huge advocate of NewstrAID. We have sponsored their Christmas Carol Service and continue to support the charity wherever we can.
“My late father was Chairman of this vital industry charity, so it's great to be able to continue his support.”
